NYC Marathon canceled after Superstorm Sandy

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was determined to make sure the New York City marathon would still be held. After harsh criticism that there were more important things to deal with at the moment, Bloomberg announced on Nov. 2, two days before the race, that the event was canceled.
