Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were probably one of the most-talked-about Hollywood couples of the year. They announced they were calling it quits after five years of marriage on June 29, 2012. Holmes had filed for divorce in New York in June and less than two week later, they had reached an agreement. By August, the divorce case was officially closed. Holmes' attorney Jonathan Wolfe said, "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." Cruise married Holmes in Italy in November 2006. They had one child together, daughter Suri.
