NEW YORK (AP) -- Kathy Bates has had a double mastectomy. Bates tells People.com that she was diagnosed with breast cancer several weeks ago. She says because she got the double mastectomy she won't have to have chemotherapy or radiation. Bates says her doctors have told her she's going to be around "for a long time." Bates beat ovarian cancer nine years ago.
