BURKE COUNTY, N.C. -- A strong storm moved across Burke County on Tuesday leaving behind uprooted trees and downed tree limbs in its wake.
At one point, more than 500 customers were without power early Wednesday morning, according to Duke Energy.
Downed trees blocked some roads, and there were reports of a few houses damaged by fallen trees. Heavy rain briefly covered streets in Morganton, but no damage was reported.
No injuries were reported during Tuesday's storm.
Duke Energy is reminding residents in the Burke County area to stay away from fallen power lines that could be charged.
A chance for more powerful storms is in the forecast for today.
The Charlotte area could see strong storms move through around lunch time and into the mid-afternoon hours.
