LANCASTER, S.C. -- Authorities in Lancaster County arrested 79 people Friday on drug and weapons charges during a year-long investigation.
The Lancaster Sheriff's Office said they arrested 79 people in operation Spring Cleaning. The 79 men and women were arrested on 145 total charges from possession of drugs, distribution of drugs, manufacturing and trafficking narcotics, according to the police report.
Officers also charged several suspects with illegal possession of firearms, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
"This latest crackdown is merely another phase in our ongoing battle to get illicit drugs off our streets and keep them off our streets for as long as we can," Lancaster County Sheriff Barry S. Faile said.
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and the Lancaster Police Department conducted the operation.
