CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After a one-of-a-kind-surgery, a Charlotte toddler gets the gift of a lifetime.

Grayson Clamp got to hear his father's voice for the first time; Grayson was born deaf.

At the UNC School of Medicine, Grayson received an auditory brain-stem implant. It's not the same as a cochlear implant, because it goes directly on the brain stem.

Grayson is the first child in the country to receive one.
