Police responded to a 911 call Tuesday, reporting that someone had been
shot in west Charlotte.
A woman was shot in a drive-by shooting and was transported to Carolinas
Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Dewberry Trail.
Witnesses said four men went down the street looking for someone. When
they couldn't find him, they opened fire, hitting a woman standing
outside.
Police said those living in the neighborhood have given conflicting
reports, so they hope the victim is able to help piece the crime
together.
The possible suspect vehicle is a gold Jeep Cherokee with a temporary
tag. It was last seen driving on Dewberry towards West Boulevard at a
high rate of speed.
At last check, the victim was in the operating room.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
