Saturday marked the grand opening for the first age-restricted community in the Charlotte area.

Sun City Carolina Lakes is giving the public a first-hand look at the new neighborhood in Lancaster County.

The Lancaster County development will eventually have up to 4400 homes on about 1,500 acres. It will have a recreation center, golf course, walking trails and lakes for fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

The company requires at least one person in each home to be at least 55 years old. The first residents are expected to move in this summer.
