CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A stationary front will cut across the Carolinas tonight and tomorrow and rain will move along the front.

The rain should start to move into the state around midnight. Areas from Charlotte to the west will see the heavier rain and flooding could become an issue in the mountains and foothills by Wednesday.

The front doesn't pass through the state until late Wednesday. One to 2 inches of rain is expected in the Charlotte area, while some folks in the mountain could pick up 3 to 4 inches.

Temperature forecasts will be a problem for the area and high temperatures will depend on the position of the front. Right now, the front is expected to cut across the Charlotte area, keep much cooler weather to the north and milder weather to the south.

If the front stays to the north our temperatures will be warmer. On the other hand, if the front moves to the south it will get much cooler.
