DMV back to issuing driver's licenses after hiccup 11:25 AM
11:25 AM EST on Tuesday, January 8, 2008
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The state Division of Motor Vehicles is issuing driver's licenses and identification cards again after a national slowdown led officials to stop the process for part of one day.
DMV stopped issuing licenses Monday afternoon after a national database system became overloaded. States use the system to verify information before issuing licenses or identification cards.
DMV officials said the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators is doing testing and analysis to determine the cause of Monday's slowdown.
