06:27 PM EST on Saturday, January 24, 2009
MCADENVILLE, N.C. -- A Gaston County family is terrorized inside of their own home and now three people are on the run for allegedly holding the family at gunpoint and robbing them.
It happened in the small town of McAdenville Friday night on Mockingbird Lane.
"When someone's going to do something evil like this, how do they select their victims?" says one neighbor.
A woman allegedly went to the home and asked to use the phone.
Police say two men quickly followed behind, one with a handgun.
The victims: a married couple and their 12-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son.
"They're very nice, very kind...those are the kind of people when you hear that that happened to them, it just makes you angry, very angry," says the neighbor.
The suspects apparently tied their hands with cords.
The family wasn't hurt, but the suspects fled in a burgundy colored four-door vehicle.
Neighbors say the robbers took their peace of mind with them.
"We won't be answering any doors...we're going to Lowe's today to get a door guard," says the neighbor.
"It could've been any one of us, and there's elderly people, including myself, on this street."
Police are asking for your help tracking down the suspects.
If you have any information please the Gaston County Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
