New York Giants' Fred Robbins (98) and Guy Whimper (79) talk to country singer Kellie Pickler during media day for Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Ariz.
UNDATED – Albemarle native Kellie Pickler is back on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno Friday night as a correspondent for the Super Bowl.
This isn’t Pickler’s first appearance on the show. In December 2006 she presented the Tonight Show host with the perfect Christmas present. She also was a special correspondent on the red carpet in June 2006 for the MTV Video Music Awards. (Click here for a photo slideshow from the bit.)
Pickler visited players from the New England Patriots and the New York Giants during Media Day on Tuesday in Tempe, Arizona.
The former "American Idol" contestant climbed atop a set of bleachers to quickly snare the attention of New York Giants defensive star Michael Strahan.
"Do you listen to music before the game?" Pickler asks.
"Sure," Strahan replies.
"Will you listen to my album?" Pickler says, holding up a copy of her debut, "Small Town Girl."
"Sure, pass it up," Strahan says.
The CD flows through the hands of real reporters like a bucket of water on its way to a fire, arriving at Strahan's podium in a matter of seconds. He scans the playlist, clearly having never heard of even one song on Pickler's country album.
"My Angel," he calls out.
"Red High Heels," he says next.
"That's the one!!!!" Pickler screams out. "Play 'Red High Heels.'"
Strahan plays right along.
"OK, I'll just imagine Tom Brady in the game wearing red high heels," he chortles.
Watch Pickler’s bit for the Tonight Show Friday night at 11:30 on WCNC.
