Even longer lines ahead at DMV 4:02 PM

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Most people already dread trips to the DMV and soon it's going to get worse.
Starting in July, all documents will have to be verified through a central office in Raleigh.
People who were at the west Charlotte DMV office Wednesday morning weren’t happy to hear lines were about to get worse instead of better.
“I imagine it's going to make the lines here a lot longer and people here more hostile,” said Steven Wilfong.
The DMV already expects wait times in Charlotte will double by the end of the year, from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
But WCNC found that there are a few secrets to beating the system.
Avoid Mondays and Fridays. Instead, go in the middle of the week and before the lunch rush.
That's what Erica Aharon did, and 11 minutes after walking through the front door, she was taking her test.
In fact, the average wait time Wednesday morning at the West Charlotte office was about 15 minutes.
Another tip: Make an appointment by calling your local DMV office directly.
