Authorities: Suspect may be connected to other shootings

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Four people shot at three different crime scenes has investigators looking into whether the shootings are tied to the same person.

They haven’t confirmed the connection, but say they are concerned that is the case.

The most recent shooting happened Thursday afternoon at Cash On The Spot check cashing in York County.

The suspect is still on the loose. The shooter was caught on surveillance video. Investigators hope someone recognizes him and has information that could lead to his arrest.

This surveillance photo was taken inside a check cashing business in York County. The person on the left allegedly robbed the store and shot a customer.

The man in the white doo-rag sat there, filling out paperwork, waiting. A 43-year-old woman in a red coat came in for a wire transfer.

He gets up. Suddenly, Cash On The Spot check cashing is a brutal crime scene.

"I think this guy doesn't care who it is,” said a woman who works nearby. She doesn’t want to be identified.

She tells us what her friends at the check cashing store told her.

"He was trying to get the gun up underneath the bullet proof glass to get to the clerk."

He couldn't, so he went for the woman.

"He said 'give me your money.' He grabbed a hold of her and shot her in the head and when he went out the door he shot her in the back," the woman said.

She says the victim was sending money, not receiving it.

"Probably the most dangerous person we've dealt with in quite some time,” said York County Capt. Jerry Hoffman

The concern Thursday was that the gunman might be the same one caught on tape at a store in Fort Mill where a clerk and former mayor were shot.

Another shooting happened at a Rock Hill seafood store. Investigators say suspect descriptions in all three are similar.

It's more than enough to make other clerks around town scared.

Gun training and permits at one store next to Cash On The Spot is on the to-do list.

Meanwhile, hearts go out to the woman in red on Valentine's Day.

"It's going to be a miracle if she pulls through,” the woman said. "This guy doesn't need a trial, he needs the same thing he's doing to everybody else."

The woman was still in critical condition Friday morning. Deputies have not released her name.
