A Guilford County resident who made it to the final 44 contestants on
"American Idol" has finished her trek to Hollywood after being
cut from the program.
Tammy Wynette Nash of Greensboro was among 20 people cut last night
from the fourth season of the Fox television show.
Judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell reviewed tapes of
previous performances for the remaining contestants and eliminated them
one by one last night.
Abdul broke the bad news to Nash that she isn't one of the 12 women
and 12 men that will compete for America's vote.
But Wilmington's Sarah Mather is one of the remaining 24 contestants.
The Canadian-born Mather graduated from high school in Charlotte and has
appeared in Wilmington bands since 2001.
