Hackers may have walked off with credit card and personal shopping
information from customers of more than100 DSW Shoe Warehouse stores.
A lawyer for the chain's parent says the data was stolen from a
company computer's database over the last three months.
Julie Davis says DSW was alerted by a credit card company that
noticed suspicious activity. She says the theft was reported to federal
authorities after it was discovered Friday.
Davis says she doesn't know how many customers might be affected but
says they should check their credit card statements and report any
irregularities.
She says the company has contacted officials of the four credit cards
the stores accept.
The Secret Service is investigating.
