A police K9 dog bit the man after helping locate him near the scene of his own car crash.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers attempted to stop the man for reckless driving around 1 a.m. He allegedly refused to stop, crashed his car into a building, then fled the scene on foot. He was found a short time later by the K9 unit. That's when he was bitten.
The suspect has been charged with DWI, resisting arrest, failing to stop and numerous other traffic charges.
He received minor injuries from the dog bite. Officials are investigating the use of force in the incident.
