GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A teenager has been charged in connection with a chase that led police through three counties early Thursday morning.

John Robert Miller, 17, is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, driving with a revoked license, speeding and careless and reckless driving. He is being held in jail under a $25,000 bond.

According to the Stanley Police Department, Miller was driving a Ford F250 pickup truck that matched the description of a vehicle involved in a break-in at John Deer in Gaston County.

An officer on routine patrol tried to stop the pickup truck, but Miller took off.

The pursuit went through Lincoln, Mecklenburg and Gaston counties, at times reaching speeds of 90 mph.

Gaston County police told NewsChannel 36 the pickup eventually got onto Highway 16 going toward Gaston County. Officers set up spike strips and were able to blow out one of the tires on the truck.

Miller and a passenger in the pickup were arrested at the scene, but the passenger was later released.

Gaston County authorities are investigating to see if the Ford F250 was the actual vehicle involved in the John Deer break-in. The Stanley Police Department says this vehicle may be connected to break-ins in the Kannapolis area.
