KING'S MOUNTAIN, N.C. – Investigators have arrested a former school resource officer after discovering he sent lewd pictures to teens on his cell phone.

David Wayne Coburn, 44, was nabbed when deputies said he took pictures of his naked body with his cell phone and sent them to two females.

“They are obscene. I wouldn't want my daughter or anyone else looking at them,” said Capt. Bobby Steen with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department.

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department arrested Coburn on Friday after he allegedly sent two graphic pictures of his genitals on May 16 and 17 to a 15-year-old girl. The girl’s mother saw the pictures on the phone and called the sheriff’s department.

On May 25, deputies got another call from a 19-year-old woman who said she had received similar pictures. In court testimony, WCNC learned that 19-year old is the daughter of the King’s Mountain Police Chief, Coburn’s former boss.

Coburn was a King’s Mountain police officer for three years, until he was arrested in Alamance County earlier this month for DWI. He is still awaiting a trial in that case.

Investigators say Coburn was friends with the 15-year-old’s mother and used to work at the girl’s school. He was a resource officer at Kings Mountain High School in 2005-2006, and was serving as a D.A.R.E. officer this school year at Kings Mountain Intermediate School.

He faces three felony charges of disseminating obscenities. His father and brother were in the courtroom Tuesday but declined to comment. Coburn is out of jail on $45,000 bond. As a condition of his release he can have no contact with the girls or their families.
