CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The woman accused of crashing a school bus while under the influence says she’s sorry.
Desiree Kelly crashed a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School bus in Mint Hill in March. Fifteen students from Independence High were on the bus. Four students were treated for minor injuries at local hospitals.
Mint Hill police charged Desiree Kelly with driving while impaired and reckless driving after her bus went off the shoulder of Truelight Church Road and ran over a brick mailbox. Video from the scene showed her in the midst of a sobriety test.

Kelly was given a DWI blood test at a hospital and was then charged with driving while impaired. Investigators say Kelly had taken prescription medication.
She's on trial for DWI and NewsChannel 36 reporter Mario Roldan talked to Kelly on her way out of the Mecklenburg County courthouse Monday morning.
Mario Roldan: Do you regret what happened?
Desiree Kelly: Yes I do.
Mario Roldan: So you are sorry?
Desiree Kelly: I'm very sorry.
Mario Roldan: What about those kids? Anything to say to them?
Desiree Kelly: I have nothing to say to you.
Kelly has not entered a plea. Her case was put on hold today and it will continue next month.
