MONROE, N.C. -- Highway 74 in Monroe has reopened at Skyway Drive Bridge after a tractor-trailer struck the bridge.
Monroe police say the truck belonged to Blythe Construction. The tractor-trailer was an asphalt recycler, which had a conveyor belt on top.
The driver of the truck was headed to a construction site when the conveyor belt struck the bottom part of the bridge.
The collision sent debris and asphalt flying onto the road, according to police. Three vehicles suffered about $2,000 to $3,000 in damage.
No one was injured.
Department of Transportation officials inspected the bridge and found that it's safe for travel.
Police are investigating the collision.
