John Mitchell, Jr.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- The man accused killing a Catawba County teenager in 2007 is due in court today.

John Mitchell, Jr., is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Travis Baker.

Mitchell was arrested in Florida last week. He was extradited to North Carolina on Saturday.

Mitchell's first court appearance was scheduled for Monday in Catawba County.

Investigators say Mitchell killed Baker in April 2007 after the two got into an argument, possibly about drugs.

Last week, a tip led investigators to rural Catawba County where they found skeletal remains buried in a field. The owner of the land said Mitchell had asked to hide some of Baker's belongings there.

Investigators say more arrests may be made in the case.

Meanwhile, Baker's family plans to hold a funeral service this week. It's scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at DRUMS Funeral Home in Hickory. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
