WESLEY CHAPEL -- The 8-year-old boy police say was shot by his father was released from the hospital Tuesday.

Investigators said Ross Minor and his brother Ryan, 10, were shot by their father earlier this month. 

Mark Minor, 44, the boy's father, shot his children while they were in their bed sleeping, deputies said. Minor then shot himself and died at the scene, deputies said.

Both boys were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center with life threatening injuries.  Ryan Minor died at the hospital June 15.

A search warrant revealed that the alleged shooter, Mark Minor, made a last minute plea to his wife, asking her not to leave him.

The documents reveal that Mark Minor had not slept Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning because he was worried about a pending separation with his wife, Grace.

Moments after Mark made his final plea, Grace heard gunshots and rushed upstairs. According to the search warrant, Grace found her husband holding a gun, and her two boys in bed, critically wounded.

Then Mark turned the gun on himself.
