CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- The co-owner of a Dilworth pizzeria robbed by so-called “minivan bandits” says he’s relieved that four men have been arrested in a related case. “It’s good that they got these guys,” said Joel Doliveck. “It's good the police did their job.”

Saturday, York County Sheriff’s deputies swore out warrants for murder and armed robbery in connection with the heist at Anyday Payday Loans on Carowinds Blvd., just across the South Carolina state line from Charlotte.  Co-owner Joe Fatigato was shot to death during the robbery.

Capt. Jerry Hoffman of York County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Jamar Belk, 19, Joshua Squire, 20, Darryl Manning, 23, and Robert Shealey, 20.   Their arrests followed a SWAT raid at a Charlotte hotel Friday.   Police and SWAT officers surrounded the AARCS Residence Suites Friday afternoon and took at least two men into custody on probation violations.   The other arrests followed those, as police questioned witnesses from the hotel raid.

Police have said the ring of bandits may include as many as 15 people.  They’re known for stealing a minivan or large sedan from a public parking lot or shopping center, and using it as a getaway car in an armed robbery.   Detectives have connected at least four robberies since August to the men – including the robbery at Queen City Pizza Depot and the Anyday Payday Loans.  The other two businesses are the China Saute restaurant, next door to the pizzeria, and a Zaxby’s restaurant on South Tryon Street.

The four men arrested for Fustigator’s murder have not been charged with any crimes in Mecklenburg County as of late Saturday night.
