Students arrested for plotting school attack, police say
06:36 PM EST on Tuesday, November 15, 2005
Two students were arrested on conspiracy charges after police say they
planned a Columbine-like plot at a Mecklenburg County private school.
Officers were called to Bible Baptist Christian School on Margaret
Wallace Road Oct. 24.
Police sources told 6NEWS the two 15-year-old students were plotting a
Columbine-style murder plot and they targeted both teachers and students.
Bible Baptist is a small private school with only about 130 kids.
Officers said it was a fellow student who turned the students in. The
students, who have not been identified because they are juveniles, were
arrested Oct. 25 and are still in police custody. The two 15-year-old
students have been charged with conspiracy. A hearing is set for Nov. 17
in juvenile court and an arraignment is set for Nov. 29.
Police do not think that this was some type of idle threat. They believe
people would have gotten hurt if they had not stopped the two students.
