Little known facts about Idol contestant Kellie Pickler

6NEWS American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler once roller skated her way around her job at this Albemarle Sonic restaurant.
ALBEMARLE -- The Sonic restaurant in Albemarle the perfect place for American Idol fans to show their pride because this is a story of a small town fast food waitress who goes straight to Hollywood.
“She's never quiet, she's always talking, and she's constantly singing. She makes up her own songs also,” co-worker Heather Smith said.
“I really like to hear her sing country,” co-worker Jessica Shepard said.
The waitresses at the Sonic in Albemarle can also verify this American Idol hopeful Kellie Pickler can carry food on roller skates.
She even came back from California to pick-up a few shifts. Leaigh Anne Litaker is her manager and her old high school pal.
“People been coming in here and asking if she can bring their food out and we just tell them' she's not here she's in Hollywood,” Litaker said.
“I heard she was waitressing and someone gave her a $100 tip,” Shepard said.
Shepard and Anna McKenon are proud to go to Pickler's grade school.
“Since I'm from Albemarle and you could throw a rock through it, I'm really proud that we have some talent here,” McKeon said.
And friends told 6NEWS singing isn't her only talent.
“She burps like a man, yes she burps like a man,” Smith said
There's a lot this city knows about Pickler they don't like talking about. Pickler told the Charlotte Observer her mother left her when she was two-years-old.
Her father Clyde Pickler was arrested several times in North Carolina for drunken driving, assault, and armed robbery. He's now serving time for stabbing a man in Florida.
Kellie Pickler was raised by her grandparents and calls them her heroes. People in Albemarle said her tough upbringing makes her story even better.
“Bout time we got something around here to talk about,” Smith said.
“I'm really excited for her, it feels like I'm there, I'm all nervous but I think she's going to make it,” Litaker said.
Pickler's dad is set to be released from prison on May 22, the same week of the American Idol finals.
