1 student transported after Ballantyne bus crash

More than two dozen children are recovering after a school bus crash.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus crashed Tuesday evening, sending one student to the hospital.

The accident occurred at Providence Road West and Tolliver Drive in Ballantyne, where the bus left the roadway.

It's not yet clear what sequence of events led to the bus crash, but NBC Charlotte's crew on scene has learned one student of the 25 on board was taken to the hospital with injuries described to be minor.

The students on board were from Community House Middle School.
