CMPD: 7-year-old struck, hospitalized after hit-and-run in SW Charlotte

Police in southwest Charlotte are investigating after a child was struck during a hit-and-run accident.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A child was transported to CMC after a hit-and-run accident in southwest Charlotte Saturday afternoon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police says.

Officers responded to a call in the 3500 block of Crestridge Drive in reference to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found a seven-year-old that had been struck by a small green four-door sedan.

The suspect behind the wheel is described as a black male with a plaid shirt, police say.

CMPD says the child's injuries are not life-threatening.
