CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- I-77 drivers buckle up! There are more changes coming to I-77 this week.
This time, lanes aren't just shifting, they're closing. Some drivers are worried about congestion, but feel it's necessary to make I-77 better.
"We need to fix it, and I think this might be a little progress," one drivers says.
Most of the work will take place overnight. Closures wrapped up around 5 a.m. Monday. However, as the week rolls on, that construction will continue through your morning drive in to work.
Friday specifically, drivers are cautioned to keep an eye out for closures at Exit 11-12 Northbound and 28-30 Northbound. Those closures will last until 9 a.m., the longest closure of the week.
On the southbound side, Exit 25-23 and Exit 16 to the I-85/I-77 interchange.
One driver, just trying to avoid the road altogether if she can.
"I’ve done it at 2 o'clock in the afternoon or 10 o’clock in the morning, and it's never a pleasant experience, so I avoid it."
