CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say one person is dead after a crash between a car and a CATS bus Saturday night.

The crash happened on the 4600 block of north Tryon Street around 11:15 p.m.

According to police, the driver of the car, a Nissan Sentra, ran into the back of the CATS bus as the bus pulled off from picking up passengers.

Following the crash, the driver of the Nissan was unresponsive and died at the scene. Police say alcohol and drug use appear to be a factor of the crash for the driver.

None of the 14 CATS bus passengers reported any major injuries.
