Driver dead after striking tractor-trailer head on

CHESTER, S.C. -- One person has been confirmed dead in a fatal car accident that occurred on Monday afternoon just after 1 p.m. in Chester. 

A Sedan was driving north on US 21 when they struck a truck tractor-trailer that was traveling southbound head on. 

The driver of the Sedan was trapped from the collision. After the driver was extricated from the vehicle, he or she was pronounced dead on arrival. The individual was wearing their seatbelt. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Randy Lee Greene, 59, was injured in the accident and was transported to Piedmont Medical Center. Greene was wearing his seatbelt.

The name of the deceased has not been released at this time.
