Pedestrian dies in Gastonia crash

A pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle in Gastonia died over the weekend, police said.

GASTONIA, N.C. – Police say a 51-year-old man has died following a motor vehicle collision that took place in Gastonia on Wednesday.

According to the Gastonia Police Department, officers responded to a reported accident involving a pedestrian in the 1000 block of East Franklin Boulevard a little after 9 p.m. Police say that a Belmont woman was driving a 1997 Chevrolet traveling east on Franklin Boulevard when she hit a pedestrian that was trying to cross the road.

The pedestrian, identified as James Rose, has died from his injuries Saturday, police say. 

Police said no charges will be filed against the woman.
