Search continues for missing dog injured in car wreck

After a near death car crash, a Moorseville woman is searching for her dog who was involved in the accident.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- After a near-death car crash, a Mooresville woman is searching for her dog who was involved in the accident.

Tanner, a Golden Doodle, ran away from the scene of the crash Sunday near Prosperity Church Road on Interstate 485. He is believed to be injured.

“I don’t want to be in this world without Tanner,” said Lauren Etz.

Etz has owned the 4-year-old dog since birth.

“He is my entire world and he puts a smile on my face and I just cannot imagine my life without him.”

To find her “baby,” Etz took to social media. Her post gained attention from Christine Johnson, a local community member who helps search for lost pets.

“The friendliest dog, when they are in a situation like this is scared. I’ve seen situation where they won’t even come to their owner unless they’re close enough for that scent.”

Johnson is using food and humane traps from animal control to bring Tanner back.

“The traps work wonderfully,” said Johnson.

In addition to the traps, there have been several “missing” fliers passed out and a drone is also flying over the area.

His owner, hoping to save Tanner’s life like he once saved hers.

“He did save me I was going through a terrible break-up. Tanner was there, Tanner was the reason I got out bed sometimes.”

If you spot him, the owner asks that you not try to capture him, instead call 704-891-7533.
