SAN ANTONIO - The man killed in a deadly Walmart shooting on Friday has been identified as 39-year-old Isidro Zarate, a father of four.
Family members confirmed to KENS 5 that Zarate was the one shot and killed while helping a woman believed to be the victim of domestic abuse.
Grieving family members tell KENS 5 that he was a talker, not a fighter. But they aren't surprised that he died trying to save a woman from harm, noting that he was well known for helping people down on their luck.
They are currently trying to raise money for funeral expenses. They have set up a GoFundMe account for people to contribute.
Lisa Benavides, Zarate's wife of 22 years, says that her husband was a peaceful person and a good provider and role model to their four sons.
