SRINAGAR, India (AP) — The death toll keeps climbing in the wake of a massive avalanche that plowed into an army training center in India. The bodies of 17 soldiers have been found.
An army spokesman says 17 others were critically injured in what he called the worst avalanche in the area in many years.
About 70 troops were taking a skiing test when the avalanche came crashing down. Fifty-three soldiers were rescued.
About 400 people, including 30 civilian workers, were at the training center -- but the avalanche hit only one portion of the facility.
