HICKORY, N.C. – Dozens of stuffed animals and toys were collected for children in need on Wednesday.
The items were left at the home where Zahra Baker lived on what would have been her 11th birthday.
The personal items, like balloons and candy for Zahra will go to family members, but the toys will go to needy children.
From teddy bears to books, all of the toys will go to the Hickory Police Department’s Cops for Tots program, which aims to provide a Christmas for families in Hickory and Catawba County who would otherwise go without.
The Cops for Tots event runs from Dec. 13 to Dec. 15.
