HICKORY, N.C. -- Adam Baker appeared in court today on charges of identity theft and obtaining property under false pretenses.
Baker's lawyers were granted a continuance so they could have time to file for a change of venue in his trail.
His lawyers are arguing Baker will not get a fair trial in Catawba County due to the heavy media coverage of his daughter's murder case.
Baker is the father of Zahra Baker, the 10-year-old girl who was murdered in Hickory last year. Elisa Baker, Adam's wife, has been charged with second-degree murder in the case.
Baker will again appear in court on November 7.
