CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- About 25 miles off the southeast coast of North Carolina is an old Coast Guard light tower-- Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower.
It started operating in 1966 and was deactivated in 2003. The U.S. Government sold it to a local man---software sales engineer Richard Neal.
He’s taken the abandoned facility and has turned it into a high-seas bed and breakfast and corporate retreat. Richard was our guest on Larry’s Look this morning and talked about this exotic spot in the ocean and the transformation that’s still going-on.
