CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- When you hear a great Charlie Daniels Band performance like “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” you hear music that knows no clear genre.

Is it a folk tale? A southern boogie? A country fiddle tune? An electric rock anthem?

The answer is, “yes” to all of that.  And the same goes for “In America,” “Uneasy Rider,” “The South's Gonna Do It Again”, “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Still in Saigon,” and the rest of a catalog that spans 50 years of record making and represents more than 20 million in sales.

Daniels was our guest on Larry's Look this morning. We talked to Daniels about being a native North Carolinian and how he hit the road as a teenager and moved to Nashville to start his career.

Charlie also explained his change to a baseball cap instead of that classic, wide-brimmed cowboy hat that's always been part of his attire over the years.

Daniels has a brand new album, just in time for the holidays. It's called "Hallelujah -- It's Christmas Time Again" and features some classic songs, done in that Charlie Daniels style.
