CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The band Nantucket has been together as band for over 43 years and the group is still going strong.
They actually started as the beach music band, Stax of Gold, but took a turn to pure rock'n'roll--- using the name Nantucket Sleighride (from the song by Mountain).
The group decided to use just Nantucket, and as they say the rest was history!
Nantucket signed with Epic Records in 1977 and released their self-titled album in 1978. The album was a big hit, just like the first single---"Heartbreaker".
With the album release the band went on a major concert tour, opening for acts like Styx, KISS, the Doobie Brothers and Journey.
They're currently on tour celebrating the 35th anniversary of that first album and will have a big show at Amos' Southend this Saturday night.
Mike and Larry Uzzell were in our studios this morning on Larry's Look.
The two talked about the history of the band and how the group has stayed together for over four decades and still rockin' after all these years.
