CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- There’s a very interesting new exhibit at Discovery Place! It’s called “Animal Grossology”, where you find sophisticated animatronics, interactive learning games, and animated characters----all “oozing” with disgusting science.
You get a real education in all the disgusting things animals do in an average day. The new exhibit was adapted from the best-selling “Grossology” children’s book series by author/science teacher Sylvia Branzie.
Animal Grossology introduces scientific concepts in ways that make kids of all ages giggle.
You may think leeches are pretty gross but they’re used after some surgeries to assist in the healing process.
Did you know that cows are one of the gassiest animals on Earth and actually produce the greenhouse gas methane?
You can learn why the dung beetle is nature’s living pooper scooper and why scientists are studying slug and snail slime production for clues in treating cystic fibrosis.
This morning on Larry's Look, we got the behind-the-scenes look at the new exhibit. It was all the sights...and sounds you could imagine.
The only thing missing was "smell-a-vision". It's definitely a hands-on experience, including some unique animals that look like---we'll leave that to your imagination!
