CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Actress Andie MacDowell is a native of Gaffney, South Carolina and spent some time at Winthrop University in Rock Hill.
She was initially discovered by a rep from Wilhelmina Models while she was on a trip to Los Angeles. She later signed on with Elite Model Management in New York City in 1978 and then it was on to a very successful career as an actress.

She portrays Judge Olivia Lockhart, a small-town magistrate turned federal court nominee. Her character balances ambition with nurturing — of her daughter who has attracted the attention of a real estate developer nearly twice her age. Her Honor, meanwhile, has caught the eye of Jack Griffith(the local paper’s new editor).
Andie was our guest on Larry's Look this morning. She talked about growing-up in Gaffney and how important that was to playing a small-town judge.
MacDowell also spoke about her other connections to the Carolinas, including the fact that she has a sister who leaves here in Charlotte.
