CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte is known for many great things. One of those is not the most publicized -- the reach recording history in the Queen City!
It goes back to the 1930s when the "father" of bluegrass, Bill Monroe, made some of his first recordings at a studio in the old Hotel Charlotte.
At that time, Charlotte was more well-known than Nashville. Many country and blue grass artists had recording sessions in the 1030s and 1940s in Charlotte.
That legacy continues today, with a number of studios located in the greater Charlotte area.
This morning on Larry's Look, we got an exclusive and close-up look at two of Charlotte's most well-known facilities.
Studio East and Reflection Sound Studios have both been around for decades and each has left its own indelible mark.
The likes of James Brown, Hootie and the Blowfish, Johnny Cash, Whitney Houston, and General Johnson & the Chairmen recorded hit records---all recorded in Charlotte.
Larry spoke with the owners of both studios, Tim Easton(Studio East) and Wayne Jernigan(Reflection).
They both talked about the legends who have spent time in their studios.
Each studio had its own set of some of the most well-known artists in the history of American music, representing rock, country, R & B, beach music, jazz, and classical.
