CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The "Scouting for Food Drive" is a major effort by the Mecklenburg County Council Boy Scouts of America, to address the problem of hunger in our area.
Last year the Scouts collected 255,000 pounds of food for Loaves and Fishes---the local organization that sponsors the annual event.
The Boys Scouts distributed thousands of bags last weekend across the metro area. Those bags will be picked-up this Saturday.
On Larry's Look this morning, our guests were Sean Fox(Order of the Arrow) and Cub Scout Daniel Eaton.
They both talked about the volunteer spirit of Scouting and how important it is to help families in crisis, right here in our area.
Both Scouts also had some interesting facts about the food collection process and the number of Scouts and volunteers who will canvass the area over the weekend.
Sean and Daniel also mentioned there are several ways that people can help out, including the collection barrels at Harris Teeter locations in Mecklenburg County.
