CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Florence Crittenton Services helps teenagers who are single and pregnant.
Each year they help more than 200 mothers and children. This year they need help with their holiday drive. The drive started in October and ends Saturday.
Organizers say the response has been good but it could be better. They say it is amazing how one gift can make a Christmas special for these teens and their children.
"Some of the girls, this is the first Christmas they've had where we are sort of their family," said Brook Goldsmith, development specialist with Florence Crittenton. "This is one of the only times they may have gotten gifts. It's amazing to see their face."
They are accepting donations of unwrapped toys, gifts or gift cards at their offices on 1300 Blythe Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
If you want to schedule a pick-up, call My Southern Scene at 704-905-2550. Monetary donations to the drive can also be made online at http://www.fcsnc.org/.
