CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Soda, smoke and silverware were problems at three restaurants with low health inspection scores this week.
At the Petro Express on John Street in Matthews, inspectors found no soap and no paper towels at the sink in the kitchen. Inspectors also told employees to clean soda nozzles and the ice chute of the beverage machine. Petro got the low score of the week -- an 84.5.
At Jillians in South End, inspectors found fruit flies at the bar, water ponding on the floor and cigarette butts all over the floor. Jillians scored 88.5.
At Mama's Caribbean Grill in Plaza-Midwood, inspectors say utensils were being stored dirty.
Mamas also scored 88.5.
