Bill McGinty serves as the anchor of NBC Charlotte News at 5:30 p.m. and the Consumer/Investigative Reporter.
Prior to working here in Charlotte, Bill worked in Tampa Bay for 13 years at WTSP TV as a General Assignment Reporter and Weekend Morning Anchor.
Bill’s career got started in1989 at WBKB-TV in Alpena, MI, which at the time was the smallest TV market in the United States.
Bill’s career stops also went through in Rockford, Illinois, Reno, Nevada, and Eastern Washington.
Perhaps the most interesting moment in Bill’s career came in October of 1996 while he was reporting for WTSP and watched his personal car burn in the middle of the St. Petersburg riots.
Bill has won six regional Emmy awards for his reporting and has been honored with two Edward R. Murrow awards for writing and reporting.
Bill is a native of Pittsburgh and attended John Carroll University in Cleveland.
