Weekend Sports Anchor
Russ Owens joined the WCNC sports team in October 2011 as the weekend sports anchor. He comes to Charlotte after spending four years in Wisconsin working for the ABC stations in Wausau and then Madison.
Russ has been an avid sports fan all his life, and since he was never athletic enough to make the big bucks, he figured TV was the best option. He’s thrilled to see what the Queen City has to offer.
He was born and raised in Louisville, KY and graduated from the prestigious School of Journalism at the University of Missouri in 2007.
During his free time Russ enjoys hitting the links, and watching Kentucky and Missouri athletics. He’s a huge college hoops fan so he’s confident he’ll fit right in here in the Carolinas.
