Katie Killen joined NBC Charlotte in September of 2012. You can catch her reporting bright and early on NBC Charlotte Today weekdays from 5-7 a.m. and on NBC Charlotte Midday at noon. Her first official day on the job happened to be the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, making for quite an introduction to the Queen City.
Katie is no stranger to the Carolinas. She comes to NBC Charlotte from the mountains of Asheville, NC. As an anchor/reporter at ABC affiliate WLOS-TV, she helped launch the station's weekend morning show. Prior to her time in Asheville, Katie anchored the morning show at the the ABC affiliate in Winchester, VA and spent time at CNN's DC headquarters.
Katie graduated from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA and holds a master's degree in broadcast journalism from American University in Washington, DC.
She's originally from Ebensburg, PA. When she's not busy chasing down stories before dawn, Katie enjoys traveling, running around the fabulous Queen City and spending time on her family's farm back in PA.
