Tony Burbeck is a general assignment reporter with a passion for crafting stories. He’s been at NBC Charlotte for more than ten years and covers everything and anything.
"I got my first job in news on a sports resume tape and along the way I learned how to do everything, including how to shoot, write, edit, anchor, produce and run a live truck," Tony says.
Tony is known for his ability to find stories, including numerous exclusives. He's also known for his rolodex.
"Chances are if I get your number, it's scribbled in the margins of all those stapled together pages in my briefcase," he says. "I love it when people call me with tips and ideas."
His work has led to several awards and praise among his peers.
Tony's first job at NBC Charlotte was covering northern Mecklenburg County, plus Iredell, Rowan and Cabarrus Counties.
Tony plays a lot of basketball when he's not working. "I'm built like a football player, but I love basketball."
Tony was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota.
Tony loves living in warm weather and his Minnesota Vikings.
Tony is married, has a daughter and lives in Waxhaw.
